Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking is a way to publicly share your bookmarks on the web. An excellent video called Social Bookmarking in Plain English is a great introduction to Social Bookmarking. I've seen the wiki, blog, etc. videos in plain english, but this was the first time I knew there was one for Social Bookmarking. I need to check out what other videos they've produced.

Wikipedia defines Social Bookmarking as “…a method for Internet users to share, organize, search, and manage bookmarks of web resources. Unlike file sharing, the resources themselves aren't shared, merely bookmarks that reference them.“ Social Bookmarks can be tagged with key words. Classifying websites using key words makes this an excellent way to keep all of your bookmarks organized, and makes searching more efficient. Because they are stored online, your bookmarks are available from any computer. They are “social” because you are sharing them with others.

Diigo and del.i.co.us are examples of Social Bookmarking sites.
